	Starting in 1998, S. M. Frank & Co., began to produce a limited edition of Hand Made Kaywoodie pipes which followed the natural grain of the briar. Each pipe was stamped with the year and a serial number in the that year's series. Since no piece of briar is the same, each pipe in the series has it's own unique shape. An avid collector of Kaywoodie purchased the #01 and #07 pipes that first year at the annual pipe show in Newark, N.J., keeping the #01 pipe unsmoked and trying out the #07 to sample the quality of the new series. After a short-break in period, #07 soon found it's way to the collector's pipe rack of his six favorite pipes and has remained there ever since. So impressed was this collector, that he subsequently acquired the #01 pipe from the limited edition of Hand Made Kaywoodie pipes in each of the following years until the present day. Also, in 2001 a limited edition Anniversary pipe was also produced and the #01 pipe of the 75 made was also added to the collection.
